  • Job Summary: Oversees the setup, service and breakdown of Off Premise events. The Lead Banquet Captain ensures courteous and prompt service for all event functions according to established guidelines. S/he assists in the recruitment and training of new associate. S/he will work in any capacity on an event as business requires. S/he must work closely with the Director of Event Services in promoting the Company's culture, mission and philosophy.

    Qualifications:

    • Good working knowledge of all aspects of event implementation.

    • Three years as a waiter on Off Premise events.

    • Polished, motivated and courteous individual with excellent communicative skills.

    • Ability to delegate duties to Banquet Captains and staff.

    • Ability to work calmly under pressure and make independent decisions.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and guests to make them feel at ease and confident about their event.

    • Problem-solving ability.

    • Superior leadership qualities.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with associates, management, clients and vendors if necessary.

    • Able to work flexible schedule in order to accommodate business levels.

    Essential Job Functions :

    1. Assist in coaching & counseling and conducting performance evaluations of staff.

    2. Assist in developing, training and mentoring staff and act as a resource to them.

    3. Responsible for recommending or conducting disciplinary action, including termination, of Off premise Wait Staff team as necessary according to HR company standards.

    4. Assist in the monitoring of staffing levels to minimize cost and increase productivity. Recommend staffing needs according to business levels.

    5. Assist in developing necessary training programs for Off Premise Wait staff associates.

    6. Documenting all notable incidents at events accurately and in detail on the Event Report Sheet.

    7. Inventory of rental equipment at start of event

    8. Oversee the complete setup of Front-of-House and Back-of-House event space

    9. Preside over pre-function meeting to review assignments.

    10. Coordinate with client on the timing of the event.

    11. Constantly monitor event to ensure quality of service.

    12. Coordinate with Kitchen Staff as to the timing of the event for

    13. Oversee and assist in all breakdown operations and ensure all rental equipment is properly stored.

    14. Do walk-through of event space to ensure cleanliness.

    15. Travel, as necessary, to different properties/venues.

    16. Perform all reasonable requests by the Management team.

    17. Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.

    18. Follow proper time keeping policies and procedures

    19. Follow the sign in and out procedure for keys.

    20. Know and follow all Abigail Kirsch/ Tappan Hill emergency and safety procedures.

    21. This position requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire workday and the ability to lift, stack and maneuver objects that may weigh 5 to 50 pounds.
