    Job Description

    Reports to: Meat Supervisor

    Status: Entry pay range is $12.00

    POSITION SUMMARY: To give excellent, friendly, upbeat customer service while preparing and serving a wide variety of food products. To clean and organize the meat cases and storage area and to complete all shift duties.

    POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Prepare menu items according to recipes
    Be present and prepared to begin work at the start of scheduled shifts
    Friendly, fast-paced and efficient customer service
    Ensure that all product is in sellable condition and meets quality standards and is in date
    Slips all product that is out of date or does not meet quality guidelines
    Ensure that all meat cases are stocked and merchandised nicely
    Move meat from coolers to cutting area and return meat to coolers
    Wrap, package and price prepared items
    Fulfill all shift duties
    Maintain meat and food storage areas in sanitary, orderly condition meeting Health Department guidelines
    Comply with Health Department Regulations including head covering, proper dress, drinks, and hand washing
    Wash dishes throughout shift, dry and put away
    Willingness to increase product knowledge over time
    Perform any other duties as assigned by the Fresh Team managers, Deli/Kitchen shift leads, or Operations Leads
    Operates grinder
    Participates in quarterly inventory

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
    Ability to read and interpret documents such as department manual.
    Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, balance friendliness with efficiency, and maintain focus.
    Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
    Food Handler's Registration required
    Previous customer service experience.
    Regular, predictable attendance; flexibility in scheduling

    DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
    Experience or interest in natural foods and cooperatives.
    Prior meat experience
    Previous food service experience.
    Knife skills
    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    Required frequently: standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs.
    Environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers, ovens, freezers etc.)

    Participates actively in department team and all-staff meetings.
