If you’re looking to work overseas in the hospitality industry, there are some areas of the world that have become more attractive to budget-minded travelers. The hotels and restaurants that serve these bargain hunters will be hiring talent to handle the influx. Here are just a few of these destinations:
Japan will be eager to attract travelers after the problems it had earlier this year. Unlike London, Paris or New York, Tokyo will be offering bargain rates to tourists. Also, many attractions are free. Others like the Tokyo National Museum or Nagano’s ski runs are relatively inexpensive.
Another destination visitors will be looking at is Porto, Portugal. This quaint town is easy to reach by budget airlines and offers the old world charm of narrow lanes, village-like plazas and buildings decked in azuelo tile. Antique-filled inns with river views will set you back a mere $38, or you can stay in a 200-year-old home for about $86.
Then there’s Ohrid, Macedonia, a bargain destination boasting beautiful mountainous vineyards, lakes and Byzantine churches. Ohrid is a historic town with a medieval castle overlooking church-lined hilly streets and the stunning coastline of Lake Ohrid. Private rooms go for just $15 or less. Magnificent historic villas--now comfy B&Bs--run about $72. Buses take visitors along the lake coast to eye-opening destinations like Galicica National Park for hiking, boating and swimming.
Lest we not forget Iquitos, Peru, the world’s biggest city accessible only by boat. The area is rich in wildlife, including pink dolphins in the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve.
