John Deere Unveils Hi-Speed Dozer

It’s not often you’ll see a heavy equipment manufacturer debut what can be called an entirely new piece of equipment. Much of the time, you’ll see minor, incremental improvements on a tried-and-true design, but John Deere has gone over and above with the new 764 HSD.

The new Deere is a rubber-mounted bulldozer, but not on tires -- the 764 HSD (Hi-Speed Dozer) has four rubber tracks. It also has articulated steering. It also has a top speed of 18mph. The combination allows for unprecedented maneuverability and speed on the job. One of the most interesting aspects of this new machine is that it was designed in large part with feedback from John Deere customers. The 11-foot blade has six degrees of articulation, and the cab is design to be as close to it as possible. Visibility it excellent, and comfort in a bulldozer is unprecedented.

If you’ve ever wished you didn’t have to lay down protection to cross the road, John Deere has heard you. And with a top speed three times higher than the average heavy bulldozer, moving it around a large site is not the spine-shattering trip it may have been in the past.

All in all, the John Deere 764 HSD is a huge leap for bulldozer design, and based on the feedback they’re getting, it looks to be a popular choice.
