Job Description: The Westin San Francisco Market Street Hotel is now looking for vibrant guest-focused professionals to join our team at Highgate's world-class premiere location. The Westin Market Street Hotel is a luxurious 676 room hotel located in the Financial District adjacent to Yerba Buena Gardens and the Moscone Center. Be inspired to be your best. Be Westin. We are now seeking an Executive Sous Chef. Job Overview: Works with the Executive Chef and is responsible for all aspects of managing the Kitchen and Kitchen personnel, ensuring the quality preparation of all menu items and proper handling/ storage of all food items in accordance with standards. Coordinates the purchase of all food and develops menus, maintaining approved food costs and labor costs. Job Requirements: Job Requirements: Essential: * High school diploma or equivalent vocational training certificate, some college. * Certification of Culinary training or apprenticeship. * 2 years experience as an Executive Sous Chef or in a similar position at a hotel similar in size and scope as the Westin Market Street Hotel. * Must have superior knowledge of sophisticated Italian and Californian cuisines. * Work all stations in Kitchen. * Fluency in English both verbal and non-verbal. * Compute basic arithmetic. * Provide legible communication. * Knowledge of food cost controls. * Previously worked with all products and food ingredients. * Operate, clean and maintain all equipment required in job functions. Ability to: * Maintain complete knowledge of and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures/standards. * Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment. Use equipment only as intended. * Anticipate guests needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. * Maintain positive guest relations at all times. * Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately. * Resolve guest complaints, ensuring guest satisfaction.
