SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: Manage lead and direct the Corporate Quality Engineers in their daily tasks, including development of system procedures, auditing, new item project support and execution of SPC system. This position will also require personal involvement in many of the Quality Engineer?s tasks including procedure writing, auditing and plant visits.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
„X Manage and direct corporate Quality Engineers (QE) in the following areas: - Plant support of new projects - Plant support for Customer issues - Annual corporate Quality audits (schedule, plant corrective actions) - Development of new procedures (?A? Sections and Process Control Procedures) - Managing QE travel schedule - Execution of SPC system „X Manage, direct and support the Norcross specifications group. „X Manage and develop procedure systems „X Develop and initiate new corporate procedures „X Manage system for and provide monthly Quality reports (corporate) „X Manage Customer requests for 3rd party audits of Silgan facilities „X Work closely with the PDE Managers in scheduling support for new projects „X Provide personal support to plants, Norcross Engineering and Customers as directed. „X Work with Silgan Product Development Engineers and Customers in developing specifications and test methods as needed. „X Manage and provide SPC system training to plants during system implementation and track needs for follow-up training „X Train or provide training opportunities for the corporate Quality engineering staff „X Make recommendations for gaging and inspection equipment „X Respond to Customer requests for information regarding the Quality system „X Prepare (Quality related) presentations for Customers and plants
Requirements:
EDUCATION: Required: Minimum 2 year degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management or related field and applicable ASQ certifications. Preferred: Minimum Bachelor?s degree in Quality, Statistics, Engineering, Management or related field. Certifications with the ASQ a plus.
EXPERIENCE: Required: 5-10 years experience as a Quality Manager, Quality Engineer, or related position. Preferred: 5-10 years experience as a Quality Engineering Manager in the blowmolding or packaging industry.
SKILLS: Required: „X Management of Quality systems „X Leadership: Including recognizing strengths and weaknesses in others as well as oneself „X Excellent listening and questioning skills „X The ability to work collaboratively with others toward mutual objectives „X Knowledge of Quality systems auditing „X Possess good project management skills „X Possess good technical writing skills „X Ability to read and understand engineering drawings „X Knowledgeable in the use of ANSI/ASQ/MilStd sampling plans „X Good math and basic algebra skills „X Proficient in the operation of computers and related software „X Knowledge of good manufacturing practices (cGMP) „X First hand knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) practices „X The ability to identify root cause, develop creative solutions to problems and continuously improve systems and processes „X Proficient in developing and leading statistical sampling plans
Preferred (including all of the above): „X Formally trained team facilitator of continuous improvement efforts „X Practical knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts „X Knowledge of FDA regulations as outlined in 21 CFR, parts 110, 210 and 211 „X Knowledge of related molding & decorating processes
