GENERAL PURPOSE

Assist the General Manager in the overall management responsibility for the operation of the hotel including associate relations, guest service, profitability, product quality, and compliance to Sage and franchise standards. Operation of the hotel will be within the framework of approved annual budget, annual marketing plan, annual capital expenditure plan, annual wage plan, and always within the framework of all Company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Associate Relations Interviews applicants. Orients and trains new associates. Conducts ongoing training of associates to increase job knowledge and skill level. Coaches and counsels associates to encourage positive behaviors and correct negative behaviors. Promotes teamwork and associate morale. Conducts monthly department meetings to review new procedures and solicit input from all associates. Keeps detailed minutes on file. Analyzes and resolves work problems or assist associates in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate associates to achieve work-related goals. Conduct performance appraisals and personal development plans for associates.

Recommends or initiates personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, discharges and disciplinary measures. Is knowledgeable of associate benefits procedures and administration. Ensures benefits are administered on a timely basis and all PAF's are kept current. Responsible for PAF administration and payroll reporting for all associates. Conduct performance appraisals and personal development plans for associates.

Guest Service Monitors service trends by speaking with guests, reviewing written guest comment cards and guest tracking information to ensure Fairfield Inn service standards are achieved. Resolves all service issues via written communication or phone calls to the complete satisfaction of the guest. Empowers and teaches associates how to resolve guest questions and/or complaints. Performs hands-on duties as needed to deliver guest services. Covers shifts as necessary.

Profitability Completes weekly schedule for each department and ensures productivity goals are achieved. Logs and processes invoices for payment, including coding, filing and input. Responsible for set up of new vendors. Ensures supervisors take quarterly inventories and purchase supplies within budgeted guidelines. Applies effective revenue management techniques to maximize revenues. Manages budgets so that flow through and profitability objectives are met. Assists General Manager in annual wage surveys, submits recommendations to RVP for review. Ensures associate wages follow wage and salary guidelines. Completes accounts receivable and accounts payables duties within corporate standards and guidelines. Reviews P&L statements on a monthly basis. Ensures budgeted revenues and profits are achieved. Understands competitive market conditions and communicates this information to the General Manager. Supports the General Manager in the development of new business for the hotel including passing on leads, conducting tours, making joint sales calls, and actively participating with community organizations. Assists the General Manager with the implementation of quarterly plans and actions as agreed upon by the RVP.

Product Quality and Compliance Ensures that hiring practices comply with I-9, ADA, and EEO requirements. Adheres to work rules, procedures and policies established by the company including, but not limited to, those contained in the associate handbook. Maintains cleanliness standards in accordance with franchise and Sage guidelines. Has a thorough knowledge of emergency procedures. Practices safety standards at all times. Responsible for accident prevention for associates and guests. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must have knowledge in the following areas: hotel accounting principles hotel maintenance and repair hotel housekeeping and general cleaning associate performance management sales and marketing for rooms front office procedures yield management hotel safety and security

Post high-school coursework in hotel administration/hospitality industry acquired through accredited college or business school, seminar and workshop attendance.

Previous supervisory experience at a similar size and type of hotel or service related business.
