Position Summary:
Some of the other responsibilities of the Hostess/Host are as follows: · Arrive on time and in proper uniform. · SMILE! · Answer telephone calls within 2 rings, then providing all callers with necessary information such as wait time, call ahead seating, directions, daily specials, hours of operation etc. · Know the Resort, be able to offer suggestions and answer many questions. Offer to make alternative reservations when unable to accommodate the guest’s party. · While on a wait, manage wait times according to 501 East standards in order to accurately quote guest’s approximate wait before receiving a table. We do not wish to under or over quote guests on their approximate wait times. · Constant communication with the Managers on the status of the wait list and the dining room is a must in order to better serve our guests. Managers should be updated on status of front desk/dining room at least every 15 minutes. · When possible, the hostess should always try to direct the guests to the bar while they wait for their table to become ready. · Locate parties on the wait list to let them know their table will be ready in the next few minutes so that they can be waiting by the front desk and ready to be sat the moment their table is ready. This is called “staging”. While on a wait, we never want to have a table remain empty for more than 1 minute. · While seating guests it is important that the hostess hold professional conversation with the guests while walking only two steps ahead. · Present menus to each guest at the table, ladies first, and let them know that their server will be right with them and to enjoy their meal. · Sanitation and resetting of tables in an efficient manner. · Maintaining clean floors throughout the dining room at all times. · Notify a manager of any problems or concerns. · Helping out where needed as necessary, this may include but not limited to: Bussing tables, running food/drinks, rolling silverware, assisting with order taking, handling to go orders and assisting managers with tasks. · Perform other related duties as assigned or requested by supervisors/managers. Give service beyond the guest’s expectations, give personal attention and show enthusiasm.
