JOB DESCRIPTION:



OVERALL OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE This position is responsible for making reliable tactical decisions with minimal intervention from more senior management. Makes recommendations on strategic issues. Typically manages a group of 6 - 12 support resources who are generally focused on Quality Assurance, Porductions Ops Support, System Administration, Networks, PC Maintenance, and Database Adminisstration all in support of either one or more projects or supporting more than 2 customers during a given time period.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assists supervisor in the definition of assignments; analyzes assignments into specific tasks for his/her respective staff. Plans and tracks progress.
* Plans typically cover one to eighteen months  into the future. Communicates progress via regular written and verbal communications. Provides Management with input regarding future assignments, requirements, etc. May serve as primary contact for one or more customers.
* Maintains adequate staffing levels within the constraints of the overall budget. Provides staff with career development, counseling, and performance appraisals.
* Leads and motivate staff. Responsible for adherence to corporate departmental policies, procedures and standards (including design and coding standards).
* Inputs to budget process. Responsible for reviewing all group expenditures, but does not have formal sign-off responsibility.
* Manage Illinois 2ndTier Team
* Drive operational improvement
* Increase efficiencies and service improvements with automation
* Manage the QA Effort
* Provide System Level Metrics on Availability
* Provide Technical over site
* Manage Release Management Functions for the jurisdiction from an operational standpoint
* POC for all Software releases into Illinois
* Maintain release management process
* Adhere to software release standards and processes
* Responsible for procedures, installs, new games, checklists, etc.
* POC for Project Implementation into Illinois
* Technical Point of Contact for SAS70 Audits for Illinois
* Respond to Severity 1 and Severity 2 Incidents to remediate issues and restore service
* Assess and Approve Change Management requests
* Proactive and Strategic projects around operational efficiencies, best practices and IT standards
* Assumes role of  Sr. Ops Manager when needed.
  


JOB REQUIREMENTS



EDUCATIONMinimum education
*  Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field (or equivalent job experience). 
Years Experience
* 5 years technical experience with at least 4 years in a management or project leadership role               
* Understanding of thorough Data Center Enterprise class processes and procedures 
Essential special training requirements
* Leadership development and project management, Expert level knowledge of GTECH Gaming Applications and Systems.                   Other skills
* Time Management, Strategic Planning
